Description
Billbergia nutans, or Queen’s Tears, is a remarkable epiphytic bromeliad known for its graceful, fountain-like foliage and spectacular, pendulous flower spikes. This resilient plant forms clumps of narrow, arching green leaves with slightly serrated edges, giving it a striking, elegant appearance.
In late winter to spring, Billbergia nutans produces showstopping blooms consisting of pink bracts, tubular green flowers with blue-edged petals, and golden-yellow stamens. The flowers secrete a small amount of nectar, which, when touched, can cause droplets to “weep,” inspiring its common name, Queen’s Tears.
