Gunnera Magellanica

£18.00£62.00

Unlike it’s congeners, G Tintoria and Manicata, the leaves are small, approximately 2-10cm across. They are rounded or kidney-shaped,stipulate on long 2-10cm petioles, with crenate edges.

Flowers are unisexual, with female inflorescenes shorter than male ones. The fruit is a bright red berry 3-5mm in diameter.

The leaves die back in Autumn, so G. Magellanica perennates as underground rhizomes, and is therefore classified as a crytophyte.
