Description

Beschorneria yuccoides ‘Flamingo Glow’ is a striking evergreen succulent native to Mexico, belonging to the Agave family. This cultivar is renowned for its bold, variegated foliage and dramatic flowering display.

  • Foliage: Forms a dense rosette of lance-shaped, fleshy, grey-green leaves adorned with a central yellow stripe. The leaves are smooth and flexible, lacking the spines typical of many agaves. This makes it more garden-friendly and suitable for high-traffic areas.

  • Flowering: In late spring to summer, mature plants produce tall, arching flower spikes up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) high. These spikes bear clusters of tubular flowers in shades of green, surrounded by vibrant pink to mauve bracts. The blossoms are rich in nectar, attracting hummingbirds and other pollinators.

  • Hardiness: This cultivar is hardy to USDA Zones 8b–10b, tolerating temperatures as low as -8°C (17°F) when planted in well-drained soil. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and is drought-tolerant once established.

🌱 Cultivation Tips

  • Planting: Prefers well-drained soil and can be grown in containers or directly in the ground. Ideal for rock gardens, exotic borders, or as a specimen plant in dry, open woodlands.

  • Maintenance: Requires minimal care. Remove any dead or damaged leaves to maintain its appearance. During colder months, provide some protection from extreme wet and cold weather, especially in the first few years
