  • Fronds:

    • Evergreen and leathery

    • 10–50 cm (4–20 inches) long

    • Deeply pinnatifid (lobed) with rounded segments

    • Bright to dark green

  • Rhizome:

    • Creeping, scaly, and brown

    • Often grows along rocks or tree bark

    • Has a slightly sweet taste (historically used medicinally)

  • Sori (spore clusters):

    • Round and golden-yellow to orange

    • Found in two rows on the underside of each frond

    • No protective covering (no indusium)
